Bath re-enamelling in Biggin

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any details about the material

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Biggin

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We are often asked to fix lots of chips and rust spots and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Biggin and across Derbyshire.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How the visit works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a full day, including clearing up.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear the area around the damage

Related advice

Should you replace it?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How to compare quotes

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Biggin questions

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Do you cover the whole of Derbyshire?

We cover the entire UK, including Biggin and the rest of Derbyshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
