Bath re-enamelling in Bodham

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Bath re-enamelling in Bodham without replacing anything

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for a peeling or bubbling previous coating and staining under the taps and around the waste, in cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Bodham questions

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you quote from pictures?

Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Bodham. What changes the price is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from photos

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A picture taken from further back

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the next day. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Landlord and trade work in Bodham

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Bodham as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
