Bath re-enamelling in Boningale without replacing anything

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and the jobs we see most are worn patches where water runs and sits and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Boningale and across Shropshire.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Boningale. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Boningale. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Natural light rather than flash

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Common problems we fix in Boningale

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

Choosing a repair company

Boningale: your questions answered

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, with the bath ready the next day. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What you get with us

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • No need to remove anything

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Repair dripping taps early

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
