Bath re-enamelling at your home in Boquhan

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are a coating lifting around the plughole and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why book with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Work done at your home or business
  • No extra charge for your area

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Related advice

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Boquhan: your questions answered

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A picture taken from further back
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

If you’re in Boquhan and want a price, the easiest route is photos: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
