Bath re-enamelling near Bowes Park

Bath re-enamelling in Bowes Park without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We’re frequently asked to fix an old resurfacing that’s failing and stains that won’t shift, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Greater London.

10 questions to ask before you book

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Questions from Bowes Park

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. Inside and out.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow the best part of a day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Ask for a price

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
