Need bath re-enamelling in Carkeel?

Bath re-enamelling in Carkeel, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. Our technicians work on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Why repair rather than replace?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Carkeel clients choose us

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Carkeel. What changes the price is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A picture taken from further back

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Questions from Carkeel

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the next day. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you come to Carkeel?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Carkeel for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to most of the day.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Advice

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Landlord and trade work in Carkeel

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Carkeel?

Enamel does not fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
