Bath re-enamelling in Chute Forest

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Chute Forest

We don’t move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the following day. We regularly repair cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and common reasons people contact us are chips and rust in more than one place and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Chute Forest

Do you cover the entire of Hampshire?

All of Hampshire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Repair or replace in Chute Forest?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why Chute Forest clients choose us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • One price list for the whole UK

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There is no charge for travel to Chute Forest. The price comes down to:

  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

The process

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take the best part of a day, tidy-up included.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.
