Bath re-enamelling in Clapton

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Clapton, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Bath re-enamelling in Clapton without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Whether it’s a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can help, on acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

FAQs for Clapton

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Greater London. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room masked and ventilated.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Clapton?

Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coloured bath you want in white

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Aftercare advice
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • When it can be used again

Choosing a repair company

Landlord and trade work in Clapton

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Should you replace it?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It normally takes the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.
