  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

10 questions to ask before booking

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Coalhall

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. If you are dealing with lots of chips and rust spots and a coloured bath you want in white, we can typically put it right, on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays alike.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Coalhall and across South Ayrshire.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

If you manage property in Coalhall, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing typically wins. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • One visit for most repairs
  • No extra charge for your area
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Take a look at our pricing or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for the best part of a day. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Coalhall: your questions answered

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
