Bath re-enamelling in Cwm Gwyn without replacing anything
Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an old resurfacing that’s failing.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:
- The type of damage
- The colour and finish to match
- Whether we combine several jobs
- What the surface is made of
A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
How to get a fixed price
Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Where you are, by postcode
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
For a price in Cwm Gwyn, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Common problems we fix in Cwm Gwyn
A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
- Stains that won’t shift
- Lots of chips and rust spots
Before booking anyone
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
- How the colour is matched
- Whether a trained technician does the job
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Why book with us
- We leave the room as we found it

- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Advice
Cwm Gwyn: your questions answered
What happens if you find more damage?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Can you quote from pictures?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Do you resurface freestanding baths?
Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.
Do you cover Cwm Gwyn?
Yes. We work across the UK and come to Cwm Gwyn and the rest of Swansea. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
How long is the bath unusable?
Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.
What we cannot put right
Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
