Bath re-enamelling in Sketty without replacing anything
We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Our technicians work on pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most often call us about enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Sketty
Frequently the bath has just had decades of use, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.
Look out for any of the following:
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- A coloured bath you want in white
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- Wear marks under the taps
What your quote should include
- When it can be used again
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- How the room is protected while they work
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
Honest limits
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Common questions in Sketty
Can you fix a peeling bath coating?
Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Does the bath have to be removed?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.
Do you cover Sketty?
We do. We send a technician to Sketty for every job, with no extra charge for travel.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
How long is the bath unusable?
Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
What you get with us
- Work done at your home or business
- Everything repaired in place
- Same prices wherever you are
- Colour mixed on the day to match
See our prices page and bath cost comparison.
Can I fix it myself?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
How to care for the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

What we do, step by step
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the next day.
Before we arrive
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Point us to the nearest place to park
Ask for a price
Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
