About our bath re-enamelling in Dailly

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, and you can use the bath the next day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We are frequently asked to fix a coloured bath you want in white and lots of chips and rust spots, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repair or replace in Dailly?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is usually much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Dailly questions

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Do you work in Dailly?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Dailly for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What affects the price in Dailly

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Common problems we fix in Dailly

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is normally as strong as ever.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

How to compare quotes

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which typically takes most of the day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse off any bath products.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
