Bath re-enamelling in East Combe

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:

  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in East Combe

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, across cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes the best part of a day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Common problems we fix in East Combe

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Common reasons people in East Combe contact us include:

  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How long it needs to cure
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How the colour is matched

East Combe questions

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

How long does re-enamelling last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

When we would advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.
