Bath re-enamelling in East Ham, done in place

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about an old resurfacing that’s failing and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Repair dripping taps early

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Questions from East Ham

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Do you work in East Ham?

We do. Technicians travel to East Ham from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we will quote them together.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working.

Do you cover the entire of Greater London?

We cover the whole UK, including East Ham and the rest of Greater London. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Related advice

Do you need bath re-enamelling in East Ham?

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, usually first under the taps and around the waste.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

Before booking anyone

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in East Ham

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the whole bath

Email us photos of the damage and one of the whole item, with your E6 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Repairing versus replacing in East Ham

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
