Bath re-enamelling in Ebbsfleet, done in place

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. Whether it’s enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and lots of chips and rust spots, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

Common questions in Ebbsfleet

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

How it works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a full day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Make sure the area is dry

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Honest limits

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Should you replace it?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Ebbsfleet, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
