Bath re-enamelling in Dover, done in place
Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We’re frequently asked to fix an outdated colour you’d like to change and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.
Landlord and trade work in Dover
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Dover use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

How the visit works
There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. Most visits take a full day.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Let us know about parking or access

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
When we’d advise against a repair
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy:
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Dover: your questions answered
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
Do I have to be there?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
How soon can you come?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The colour and finish to match
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Send pictures for a quote
The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Any details about the material
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We will say straight away whether it can be repaired.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
