Bath re-enamelling near Edern

Bath re-enamelling in Edern, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We work on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and common reasons people get in touch are a coating lifting around the plughole and a bath in a colour that no longer suits.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Gwynedd.

Repair or replace in Edern?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

Edern questions

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Edern?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your LL53 postcode.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Details of any past repairs

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It normally takes most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

When a repair is not the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

How to care for the repair

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
