Bath re-enamelling at your home in Fairlight
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you are dealing with stains that won’t shift and wear marks under the taps, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Fairlight as everywhere else we work.

Aftercare tips
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
Can I fix it myself?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
Work for landlords and builders
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Fairlight as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

How long does re-enamelling take?
Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Repair or replace in Fairlight?
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
What we cannot put right
In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Holes rusted through the metal
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.
Materials we work on in Fairlight
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Basins & shower trays
What we are called out for in Fairlight
The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
People usually call us after spotting one of these:
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Stains that won’t shift
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

The process
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow most of the day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Getting ready for the visit
- Make sure the area is dry
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Have a window or extractor fan available
