Bath re-enamelling in Fenton without replacing anything
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Our repair technicians work on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a coating lifting around the plughole.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day, with the bath back in use the following day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Fenton. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
Can I fix it myself?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Common problems we fix in Fenton
Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. We strip what’s failing and start again.
You may need us if you’ve spotted:
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

The process
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.
Getting ready for the visit
- Clear the area around the damage
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Fenton: your questions answered
How do I book?
Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Is there a call-out fee?
We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?
Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Is there any odour?
There may be a mild smell during the work.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.
When a repair is not the answer
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
- A bath split right through the body
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
