Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Any details about the material
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your HP17 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Ford

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. We work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people get in touch are brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should you replace it?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How it works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take most of the day.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

What we’re called out for in Ford

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is generally as strong as ever.

Most people contact us when they notice something like this:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

Questions to ask before you book

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Store bottles off the bath

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Ford

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Questions from Ford

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Ford?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.
