Bath re-enamelling for Four Lanes homes

For landlords and businesses

For anyone letting property in or around Four Lanes, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Bath re-enamelling in Four Lanes, done in place

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. Common call-outs are for staining under the taps and around the waste and thin, worn enamel in places, across acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Cornwall.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath split right through the body
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and normally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

What we are called out for in Four Lanes

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.

Common reasons people in Four Lanes contact us are:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

Questions to ask before you book

  • How your room will be protected
  • How the colour is matched
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

10 questions to ask before you book

Four Lanes questions

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take the best part of a day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Store bottles off the bath

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
