How bath repair works in TR16

A repair fixes just the damaged area and blends it into the rest of the bath, which costs far less than replacing a fitted bath. You can usually use the bath the following day. We are often asked to fix rust by the waste and overflow and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, across roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a morning or an afternoon. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.

Cost

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for TR16. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Repairing versus replacing

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place.

Questions to ask before booking

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Rinse it down after each bath

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Signs you need bath repair

Baths take more knocks than people expect: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • A chip where the taps sit

Landlords, agents and businesses in TR16

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in TR16 as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Questions from TR16

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Do you cover the whole of Cornwall?

Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.
