Bath re-enamelling at your home in Frandley

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. If you are dealing with chips and rust in more than one place and a coloured bath you want in white, we can usually put it right, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Frandley questions

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Do you work in Frandley?

We do. We send a technician to Frandley for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What happens after I send pictures?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

When to call us in Frandley

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits

What to look for in a quote

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Choosing a repair company

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Frandley. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How hard the colour is to match

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Frandley. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

What we cannot put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, normally one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes a full day. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the area is dry

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Related advice

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
