Bath re-enamelling at your home in Froyle

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We are often asked to fix thin, worn enamel in places and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in basins & shower trays, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Froyle as everywhere else we work.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Froyle clients choose us

  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Plan for the best part of a day. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear the area around the damage

What we can’t put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Froyle

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Froyle. The price reflects:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Froyle. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Froyle: your questions answered

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do you cover the entire of Hampshire?

All of Hampshire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
