Bath re-enamelling near Green

Bath re-enamelling in Green, done in place

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the following day. We are frequently asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and staining under the taps and around the waste, in cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes the best part of a day. The room is left tidy.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Repair dripping taps early

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Questions from Green

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Do you come to Green?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Green and the rest of Pembrokeshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Repair or replace in Green?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Green

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Several chips and rust patches

Comparing quotes

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How the colour is matched
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

10 questions to ask before booking

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
