Bath re-enamelling at your home in Greenwall

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing aren’t touched. It usually takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repair or replace: which is better?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes a full day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Questions from Greenwall

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

What information do you need?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Greenwall. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

When to call us in Greenwall

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. The body of the bath is generally perfectly sound.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How long it needs to cure

How to compare quotes

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Greenwall, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
