Bath re-enamelling in Hagg Bank

About our bath re-enamelling in Hagg Bank

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Whether it’s a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can help.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Northumberland and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What you get with us

  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

Take a look at our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know about parking or access

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Advice

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Repair dripping taps early

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
