Hare questions

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hare

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Hare as everywhere else we work.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hare

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

When to call us in Hare

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, typically first under the taps and around the waste.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What to look for in a quote

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How long it needs to cure
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • If travel is included in the price

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • The type of damage
  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Access to the area

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the whole bath

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We will say right away if a repair is the right fix.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
