If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are wear marks under the taps and several chips and rust patches.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Landlord and trade work in Havenstreet

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Repair or replace in Havenstreet?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s usually ready the day after.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Havenstreet questions

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Common problems we fix in Havenstreet

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • Several chips and rust patches

What your quote should include

  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Choosing a repair company

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
