Bath re-enamelling for Heart's Delight homes

Bath re-enamelling in Heart's Delight, done in place

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. If you’re dealing with a bath in a colour that no longer suits and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can help, on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Do you come to Heart's Delight?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Heart's Delight. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

What we’re called out for in Heart's Delight

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

What your quote should include

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How to look after the finish

How to compare quotes

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
