Bath re-enamelling near Heywood

Bath re-enamelling in Heywood without replacing anything

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We are often asked to fix a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Questions from Heywood

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Wiltshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Do you cover Heywood?

We do. Technicians travel to Heywood from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Heywood. What changes the price is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs

Most clients in Heywood get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Heywood as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

For anyone letting property in or around Heywood, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

When to call us in Heywood

Older baths frequently have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

What to look for in a quote

  • How to care for the finish
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • How the room is protected while they work

How to compare quotes

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand. On site, it takes most of the day in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

Email us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, with your BA13 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Heywood. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
