Trusted bath re-enamelling in Holme

Bath re-enamelling in Holme, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Whether it’s a coating lifting around the plughole and wear marks under the taps, we can normally put it right.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Before and after: an old basin refinished to bright white

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Have chips seen to early

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time, and each one adds to the preparation. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Questions from Holme

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Are there extra charges for Holme?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Holme?

Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Repairing versus replacing in Holme

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a full day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Prices and what affects them

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Getting a price from pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One picture of the whole bath
