Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hornby
Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are chips and rust in more than one place and stains that won’t shift.
Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
What you get with us

- Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

The process
On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a full day.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.
How to prepare
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
Getting a price
Most customers in Hornby get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
Related advice
Landlords, agents and businesses in Hornby
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.
Questions from Hornby
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Are there extra charges for Hornby?
There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.
Will the price change on the day?
The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.
Can you fix a peeling bath coating?
Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
Does the bath have to be removed?
No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Keeping it looking good
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Never use suction bath mats
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
- Have chips seen to early
The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
What we can’t put right
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- A bath split right through the body
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
What we are called out for in Hornby
Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
