Bath re-enamelling for Jersey Marine homes

Jersey Marine: your questions answered

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Bath re-enamelling in Jersey Marine without replacing anything

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are lots of chips and rust spots and a coloured bath you want in white.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Jersey Marine. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is
  • What the surface is made of

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Quotes from your photos

You can typically get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A photo taken from further back
  • The material, if you know it
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Should you replace it?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

What we’re called out for in Jersey Marine

By the time a bath is a few decades old, it may have a mix of issues: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Re-enamelling deals with all of them in one go.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Wear marks under the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How soon you can use it again

Our hiring checklist

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
