Bath re-enamelling near Kensal Rise

When to call us in Kensal Rise

Enamel does not fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

What to look for in a quote

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Bath re-enamelling in Kensal Rise without replacing anything

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, re-enamelling is normally the most cost-effective option. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are thin, worn enamel in places and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Kensal Rise

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send photos.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you come to Kensal Rise?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Kensal Rise and the rest of Greater London. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

When we would advise against a repair

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Holes rusted through the metal

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one is not cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before booking.

Why book with us

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Everything repaired in place

See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Kensal Rise. The price reflects:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. It helps if you send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
