Bath re-enamelling in Kirton

Bath re-enamelling in Kirton, done in place

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Repairing versus replacing in Kirton

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine. Just make sure we can see:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

When to call us in Kirton

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Stains that will not shift
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Several chips and rust patches

Before booking anyone

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Choosing a repair company

When we would advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Repair dripping taps early

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
