How we handle bath re-enamelling in Knightley
Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Our technicians work on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people get in touch are a coloured bath you want in white and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it.
You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

The process
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Before we arrive
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
How to get a price
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

What else we do in Knightley
Should you replace it?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Prices start from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Why us?
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Typically one visit, start to finish
- Nothing taken out or refitted

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Knightley
Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.
Get in touch if you’ve noticed:
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A coloured bath you want in white
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
What your quote should include
- If travel is included in the price
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How long it needs to cure
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How hard the colour is to match
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Quotes from your pictures
Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Natural light rather than flash
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.
Honest limits
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Basins & shower trays
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
Aftercare tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Never use suction bath mats
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
Knightley questions
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
What happens after I send photos?
We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.
Will there be a smell?
There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.
What do you need from me?
Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.
Do you need to take the bath out?
Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.
Do you hold any accreditations?

Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
