Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Knowle Style

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we do not cut corners on it. We regularly repair cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and people most often call us about an old resurfacing that’s failing and staining under the taps and around the waste.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Knowle Style and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Knowle Style?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Repairing versus replacing in Knowle Style

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Knowle Style. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

See our pricing and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take the best part of a day, including clearing up.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What a repair can’t fix

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Holes rusted through the metal

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
