Bath re-enamelling in Little Gransden

Bath re-enamelling in Little Gransden, done in place

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is normally the most cost-effective option. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We regularly repair acrylic baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are a roll-top that’s seen better days and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

When to call us in Little Gransden

Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

People usually call us when they notice one of these:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Little Gransden

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Little Gransden?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Ask for a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

Should you replace it?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
