Bath re-enamelling in Lizard, done in place
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for wear marks under the taps and chips and rust in more than one place, in basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

DIY kit or professional repair?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
How the visit works
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Before we arrive
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Open a window if you can
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
How to look after the repair
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What else we do in Lizard
Landlords, agents and businesses in Lizard
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
Repairing versus replacing in Lizard
Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

When we’d advise against a repair
To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
Materials we work on in Lizard
- Acrylic baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Victorian roll-tops
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Lizard
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
What your quote should include
- Who will actually do the work
- How changes to the job are handled
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- How long it needs to cure
