What we cannot put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A metal bath with a through crack

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

About our bath re-enamelling in Loders

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are thin, worn enamel in places and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a full day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Repair or replace in Loders?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Loders?

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

Our hiring checklist

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Loders

Which areas do you work in?

All of Dorset, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Do you cover Loders?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Loders from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.
