Bath re-enamelling for Weymouth homes

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Bath re-enamelling in Weymouth without replacing anything

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Common call-outs are for an outdated colour you’d like to change and lots of chips and rust spots, across acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Weymouth and across Dorset.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we pay close attention there.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, with the bath ready the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why book with us

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a full day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Wear marks under the taps
