Bath re-enamelling in Lympne without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We work on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are chips and rust in more than one place and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

What a repair cannot fix

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Repair or replace in Lympne?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Lympne. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Lympne questions

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your CT21 postcode.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take the best part of a day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lympne use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
