Bath re-enamelling at your home in Menteith

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. If you are dealing with lots of chips and rust spots and a coating lifting around the plughole, we can usually put it right, on pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

FAQs for Menteith

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Normally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

What affects the price in Menteith

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Menteith. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When to call us in Menteith

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

People generally call us after spotting something like this:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Wear marks under the taps

Before you book anyone

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

How to compare quotes

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Repairing versus replacing in Menteith

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Menteith clients choose us

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
