Bath re-enamelling for Mount homes

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing normally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One visit for most repairs
  • No need to remove anything

Bath re-enamelling in Mount, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Typical jobs include lots of chips and rust spots and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Mount

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you cover the whole of Cornwall?

Everywhere in the UK, Mount included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The colour and finish to match

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • The material, if you know it

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Mount

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Mount?

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A coloured bath you want in white

Before booking anyone

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What prep work is covered
  • What happens if they find more damage

10 questions to ask before you book

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

When we would advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
