Need bath repair in Mount?

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Bath repair in Mount, done in place

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most often call us about a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and rusty patches near the plughole.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Mount questions

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It clears as the materials cure.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

What we’re called out for in Mount

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tradespeople drop tools and tiles into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Damage beneath the taps

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • When it can be used again

How to compare quotes

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath generally means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What you get with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What we do, step by step

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
