Bath re-enamelling at your home in New Longton

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Typical jobs include a peeling or bubbling previous coating and chips and rust in more than one place, across basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlords, agents and businesses in New Longton

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For anyone letting property in or around New Longton, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in New Longton

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

Do you work in New Longton?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to New Longton for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a full day.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear the area around the damage

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, frequently need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Everything repaired in place
  • One price list for the whole UK
