Bath re-enamelling in Newtown, done in place
A re-enamelled bath looks and feels like a new one, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. If you’re dealing with thin, worn enamel in places and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can help, on basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths alike.
We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

FAQs for Newtown
How long is the bath unusable?
One day for most baths, ready the next day. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.
Does re-enamelling smell?
A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.
What happens next?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
Can you make a coloured bath white?
Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
Does the bath have to be removed?
Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

The process
Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the following day.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually, from your photos. The main factors are:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Unusual colours or finishes
- What kind of damage it is
- Access to the area
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
How to get a fixed quote
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- The material, if you know it
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.
Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Have chips seen to early
- Never use suction bath mats
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
Do you need bath re-enamelling in Newtown?
Hard water speeds up the wear, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.
Customers generally contact us about:
- Lots of chips and rust spots
- A roll-top that’s seen better days
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Wear marks under the taps
What your quote should include
- If travel is included in the price
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- Who will actually do the work
- What prep work is covered
When a repair is not the answer
We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
