Your questions about bath re-enamelling in North Lochs

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Do you cover North Lochs?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to North Lochs and the rest of Na h-Eileanan Siar. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in North Lochs?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in North Lochs

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We are frequently asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and an outdated colour you’d like to change, in cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in North Lochs as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

What affects the price in North Lochs

Resurfacing from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to North Lochs. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Details of any past repairs

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in North Lochs, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

What we do, step by step

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a full day, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
