Bath re-enamelling in Northbourne, done in place

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Whether it’s a roll-top that’s seen better days and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can help, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths alike.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Should you replace it?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes a full day. The room is left tidy.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on
